GAME VIEWING & BIRD WATCHING
Game & Bird watching enthusiasts will be captivated by the sheer diversity of game and bird life on the reserve. Bring a bird / game book and your binoculars along and sit quietly on the patio and enjoy over 160 bird species and various game, in their natural habitat.
4x4 ROUTES
Thrill seekers will enjoy scaling steep inclines over rocky ridges and exploring the more hidden corners of the reserve. The many 4x4 trails provide an exciting way to combine adventure with game viewing and will keep you entertained for hours on end!
HIKING
Getting out into the mountains has never been more inviting! Be sure to pack a sturdy pair of hiking boots and set out onto the trails which take you on a spectacular journey through the vast landscapes and rocky mountains of the reserve. Become part of the wilderness as you view game by foot! Walk meters away from freely roaming wildebeest, majestic giraffe and mountain zebra in their natural habitat!
MOUNTAIN BIKING
The reserve offers endless tracks and trails which provide enjoyment for both novice and experienced mountain bikers!
Be sure to bring along your bike and take lots of water with you on your expeditions!
AIRFIELD - LADISMITH
Ladismith is 30 km away and has a 1000 meter gravel strip, runway 12/30. Runway 30 has a steep up-slope and the first 200 meters is NOT usable, where runway 12 is reasonable, the first 100 meters is not recommended for landing. There are two windsocks on either end of the runway for ease of use. Permission is required to land, contact Bonteboklodge@gmail.com for details.
